Programs for Teens (calendar)

Our activities for teens consist of events for middle school and high school students. Events are offered afterschool and in the evening. Additional programs and camps are available during the summer.

Young at Heart Book Club

Young adult books aren't just for young adults! Join other adults for coffee and to discuss young adult literature one Saturday a month. Copies of the book chosen for a given month will be available for checkout at the circulation desk at the library. Registration is required. Winter Reading Program

Each winter and summer the library hosts a reading program designed to encourage patrons of all ages to read and explore new authors, genres, or the variety of print and media available to read at the library. We make this a fun event with reading challenges and incentives. Read More

The Sioux Center Public Library is giving students in grades 5th-12th an opportunity to volunteer at the Sioux Center Public Library. This opportunity would include shelving books, creating displays, preparing various library materials and other duties performed in a library. We can set up a weekly, biweekly, or monthly time that works for the student and the library to make this the best opportunity for both of us. Read More

Crazy 8s Math Club

Crazy 8s is a recreational after-school math club that helps kids enjoy the math behind their favorite activities! We’re nothing like your usual math club. With Crazy 8s kids will build glow-in-the-dark structures, crack secret spy codes and play games like Toilet Paper Olympics. Read More

Bookin' It 5K Fun Run & Walk

Come join the library for a casual, fun run/walk! This family-friendly event will feature two routes starting and ending at the library– one 3-mile route and one 1-mile route, with the option to run or walk either route. Routes will take advantage of Sioux Center’s city streets, and trails (3-mile route only). All proceeds from the event will help support the library's summer reading programs. Light refreshments will be served after the event. Register before Friday, March 27, 2020 to be guaranteed a t-shirt. Registration is open until April 18 at 9:00 am. Read More
