Everyone has a story. If you’ve thought about putting your story into writing, the One Book, One Sioux Count Memoir Writing Workshop is for you. The four-week workshop will be led by Dave Schelhaas, Professor Emeriti from Dordt University’s English Department. The first three sessions will include instruction and feedback to help you write your memoir. We believe that writing is meant to be shared. So, during the fourth week, participants will read sections of their memoirs in an open mic event. Participants are encouraged to invite their friends/ family to the open mic event. “Being a part of the memoir class was a rewarding experience. Not only did I receive excellent instruction from the teacher, but I met other community members who were interested in preserving memories. We had a wonderful time sharing and encouraging one another to continue writing. I’d definitely attend an event like this again!” (A.M., a 2018 participant)
