Would you be surprised to hear me say that the library is about more than just books & reading? Yes, a part of our mission is to fuel your passion for reading, but it’s also to fuel your passion for personal growth & learning and a lot of that happens at the library every day. Kids learn how to work in teams and share ideas with a large group in both our LEGO clubs, teens build community & meet new faces when coming to our monthly Crafternoon & Unplugged Gamers (board game club) and adults strengthen their bodies in our beginner yoga classes or relax during adult coloring night. We see many familiar faces in the morning drinking coffee & reading newspapers in the coffee bar area. A new downloadable resource that patrons can access for free through our website is Gale Courses, an online learning classroom with access to a variety of topics such as photography, creative writing, computer programming, accounting fundamentals & health & wellness. We continue to see people take advantage of downloading free music through Freegal and learning new languages such as Indonesian & Spanish in Mango, our online language-learning program.
Even if you dislike reading there are still plenty of resources and experiences for you at the library and we try to help our library patrons see that. If you don’t believe me, stop in some time and see what we can offer you or like our Facebook page to see all the learning & growing we’re doing at the Sioux Center Public Library.
