summer-splash-1The Sioux Center Library is excited to offer Summer SPLASH again this year to kids who’ve completed TK-8th grade. Designed to encourage reading and learning throughout the summer, SPLASH is filled with literacy activities, reading, drama, games, special guests, crafts, and FUN!

It is a common fact that reading in the summer is very important for students. The long break from school means that reading ability and comprehension can slip as a result. We want to encourage and promote reading and learning through the use of our SPLASH programming in order to help students fill the “summer gap” of reading.

The theme of Summer SPLASH follows our Summer Reading Program which is “Every Hero Has a Story”. Each week of the program we’ll have special activities inspired by this theme such as designing our own super heroes, creating our own costumes, learning more about our community heroes and discovering the tricks of the trade to be a super hero.

This year we’ll also have a special SPLASH Swim Party on July 11 from 10:00am-1:00pm at the All Seasons Center with a meal provided. Thanks to the generosity of the All Seasons Center and HyVee Catering this swim party is free for SPLASH participants.

Check out our website for dates and times for your children’s age at www.siouxcenterlibrary.org/library_program/summer-splash. The cost is $5.00 for all sessions. Space is limited so register soon by stopping at the circulation desk.
