Summer Reading will kick-off with a Community Heroes Petting Zoo

The Summer Reading program at the Sioux Center Public Library is our largest and most fun event of the

year! The Summer Reading program, which will run from June 8 through July 17, is designed to

encourage patrons of all ages to read and explore new authors, genres, or the variety of print and media

available at the library. We also have several guest speakers and special events during Summer Reading,

including Lisa Laird, the puppeteer; Dan Wardell from Iowa Public Television; Eric Michaels a magician

and illusionist and many more!
This year’s theme is ‘Every Hero Has a Story’ and we’ll be kicking off our program on May 6 from 6:30-

7:30pm in the library parking lot with our own community heroes! The Sioux Center fire department,

police department and EMT crew will be on site to talk to kids about their work and give them an up-

close look at their trucks and uniforms. Culvers will also be serving ice cream to kids! We’ll give you

more information about our summer reading program & kids can sign up for Summer SPLASH and LEGO

You can find all events and descriptions on our website at Just navigate to

our calendar or view our programs for each age group. We’re looking forward to seeing you at the

library this summer!
