If you visit Centre Mall on Tuesday evening, August 13 you may join in the activity. From 4:30 – 7:30 PM Sioux Center Public library is hosting a Family Literacy Event for parents and children pre-school – 4th grades. The purpose of the event is to encourage family literacy in the homes. Research has shown that children raised in homes that promote family literacy grow up to be better readers and do better in school than children raised in homes where literacy is not promoted.

The events of the night will include: a book walk with a goal that every child who comes with an adult will go home with a book; a variety of short storytimes every 15 minutes which may include a sample of Babygarten, toddler time, storytime and bilingual storytime;  information tables with materials that encourage literacy in the home and information regarding library programs that support literacy development; art projects sponsored by the Sioux Center Recreation and Arts Council; ice cream and popcornand balloon sculptures.

Come join us for a fun evening. You can come and go as your schedule allows.
