One of our most popular questions for the Sioux Center Public Library is, “What do we have for downloadable audio and ebooks”. So I want to make sure that I take time to explain what our library offers. Most people are familiar with Wilbor – this service we share with about half the state of Iowa – it is fabulous and offers both audio downloads and ebooks. The only drawback with Wilbor can be the hold times for titles – but don’t let that stop you – put it on hold anyway and you may be surprised at how fast you get your book!
The library does have other options as well and I want to make sure you are aware of them.
- One Click Digital is all downloadable audiobooks – go check out the selection – it really is good – lots of Christian Fiction, if that is a genre you read. AND One Click Digital has a much shorter hold time and many are in and ready to be checked out. Wilbor and One Click are both on our homepage for quick and easy access.
- 3M is another great option if you are looking for ebooks. These are ebooks the Sioux Center Public Library purchases and they are only available to Sioux Center card holders. This means there are shorter wait times. Another advantage is that our library gets to purchase our own books. We have brand new best sellers in this service as well as some of the famous classics. We also make sure to purchase for our young readers, as well as juniors, young adult and adults. I think you’ll find a little something for everyone so make sure and check out this great service and it’s linked right from our website.
- Zinio is another option in our downloadable services – Zinio is a gem you do not want to miss! This is a service where you can get magazines – as soon as they are released – to read on your tablet or computer. The link is on our home page and it’s free and it is not limited to one reader per magazine – all of you could read the same magazine at the same time. It’s a great service, and we offer many different magazines!
Feel free to stop in or call and ask if you have any questions – most of these services only require a library card so they are free to you and easy to use too!
