Every summer the Sioux Center Public Library offers a summer reading program for people of all ages to encourage them to read, explore new authors and genres, and find out about the many different types of materials the library offers. The summer reading program is also a great way to encourage kids & teens to keep reading and learning throughout the summer months.
This year’s theme is “On Your Mark, Get Set…READ!” The program will begin on June 6 and end on August 10. This year we will celebrate that we’ve met our reading challenges with a carnival on August 11 from 4:00-7:00pm at the Centre Mall. There will be fun booths, games & prizes for kids, teens and adults to spend the tickets they’ve been earning over the summer.
We will have many special guest performers on Thursdays throughout June and July. These are free for all ages and do not require registration. This year’s lineup includes The Hanson’s, a family of jugglers and unicyclists; famous Dan Wardell with Iowa Public Television; critters from the Blank Park Zoo; musician and entertainer, Dino O’Dell; and our very own Lisa Laird and Pockets Full of Fun.
You can see our Library Summer Guide on our website www.siouxcenterlibrary.org which lists all our fun events throughout the summer. We look forward to seeing you on June 6 (or anytime after) in the library when you stop in to pick up your reading challenges!
